Vintage 9ct Gold, Synthetic Ruby and Seed Pearl Pendant Brooch

A charming vintage pendant brooch of distinctly romantic character, crafted in 9ct yellow gold and bearing the marks "ZEETA" and "9CT", indicating manufacture by the well-known Southern African jewellery maker Zeeta. The piece features an intricate openwork frame of scrolling filigree-style goldwork, centred by a striking oval-cut deep red stone measuring approximately 14mm x 11mm (circa 7ct). Surrounding the centre stone is a decorative cluster of seven smaller round-cut red stones, each approximately 3mm in diameter (circa 0.15ct each), interspersed with seven lustrous seed pearls measuring approximately 3mm. The vivid colour and exceptional clarity of the red stones suggest that they are most likely synthetic rubies (synthetic corundum), a material frequently used in quality mid-20th century jewellery. The brooch is fitted with both a pin fitting and pendant bale, allowing it to be worn either as a brooch or suspended from a chain as a pendant.
