Where we ship

Our online checkout processes orders for delivery within South Africa only, because our delivery pricing is standardised for local addresses. We do ship internationally — see International orders below — but those orders are arranged directly with us by email.

Packing and dispatch

Orders are packed and handed to the courier within one working day of payment being confirmed. Antique and jewellery pieces are wrapped and boxed to survive the journey, and discreetly, so that nothing about the parcel advertises what's inside.

Courier and delivery cost

We mostly use Fastway Couriers for secure delivery throughout South Africa. Where an address falls outside our courier's network, we'll contact you with alternatives. The delivery charge — usually around R80 — is calculated automatically at checkout.

These are estimates, not guarantees. Public holidays, peak periods and courier delays outside our control can extend them.

PostNet collection

If it suits you better, we can deliver to your nearest PostNet branch for collection, at the same delivery cost. Just let us know when you order. PostNet timeframes generally match Fastway's, and some major branches offer 24-hour delivery.

Tracking

You'll receive a tracking number as soon as your order is dispatched, so you can follow it to your door. If your tracking doesn't seem to be moving, email us and we'll chase it up.

Insurance and risk

Every order is fully insured against loss or damage in transit. Your item remains our responsibility until it is signed for at the delivery address.

Please make sure someone is available to receive and sign for the parcel. If you instruct the courier to leave a parcel without a signature, or with someone else, we're not able to insure it from that point and can't accept liability for loss.

Losses are rare — but if anything does go wrong, see our Refund & Returns Policy and contact us within 24 hours of delivery.

Delivery addresses

Please double-check your delivery address at checkout. We can usually correct an address before dispatch if you email us quickly, but once a parcel is in the courier network, redirection is not always possible and may carry an additional charge.

Collection in person

We're at the following markets, where you're welcome to collect an order or browse in person:

• Bryanston Organic Market, Stall 103 — most Thursdays and Saturdays, 9am–3pm At the Michael Mount Waldorf School, 40 Culross Road, Bryanston, Johannesburg
• The Firs, Rosebank antiques market — first Sunday of each month, 10am–4pm

Please arrange collection with us by email or WhatsApp beforehand so we can bring your piece with us.

International orders

We ship to the USA, Europe and other destinations on request. Because international shipping costs vary so much by weight, value and destination, these orders are quoted individually.

Email bancroftjhb@gmail.com with the item you're interested in and your delivery country, and we'll come back to you with shipping options and pricing. We'll look for the most cost-effective route that still keeps your piece safe and insured.

Customs, duties and import taxes. Any customs duties, import VAT or other charges levied by the destination country are your responsibility and are not included in the price you pay us. We'd encourage you to check your country's import rules before ordering, as these vary widely and we can't advise on them.

Export of certain goods. Some antique, cultural and precious-metal items may require an export permit under South African law. Please ask us before ordering from outside South Africa and we'll confirm what applies to the piece you're interested in.
