Antique 9ct Rose Gold MIZPAH Ring
Antique 9ct Rose Gold MIZPAH Ring
A charming antique MIZPAH ring in 9ct rose gold, featuring the word MIZPAH in bold, pierced lettering across the front, flanked by decorative hand motifs and a split-shoulder design. Mizpah jewellery was particularly popular during the Victorian and Edwardian periods and was traditionally exchanged between loved ones as a token of affection, remembrance and protection during times of separation. The word Mizpah originates from the Bible (Genesis 31:49), with the sentiment: “The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.” The ring has a warm, rosy gold colour typical of sentimental jewellery of the period. Delicately made and showing some age-related wear and irregularities, all of which contribute to its wonderfully timeworn charm. The inside of the band is stamped '9CT', indicating 9 carat gold.
