Vintage Italian 18ct Yellow Gold and Cameo Shell Ring

The vintage 18ct yellow gold ring set with eight, oval, bezel-set, carved cameo shells (circa 10mm x 6mm each, with white raised carvings on varying base colours) of classical women in various poses. The band is further decorated with a dimple at the top corner of each cameo, and the top and bottom edges of the band have twist-wire detailing. The ring is signed by maker’s "Quaglia and Forte, Firenze", and is stamped "750".

Quaglia and Forte was an artistic cameo factory situated between the Duomo area and the Arno / Ponte Vecchio district, the core jewellery quarter of Florence, Italy. It was linked to cameo carver Enzo Quaglia and operated from the mid-20th century until the 1970s.
