Vintage Gold, Onyx and Diamond “Flower” Brooch
Vintage Gold, Onyx and Diamond “Flower” Brooch
The circa 1940’s brooch is in the form of a floral spray. It has a complex design with a 9ct white gold mount in the form of a twig, which ends with an engraved decorated stem with a decorated band one end, and with six loops forming the base for the flowerheads at the other ends. There are four large flowerheads (13.5mm diameter) and two small ones (7.5mm diameter). All the flowerheads are set with polished onyx and a small single-cut diamond (circa 0.01ct each) at the centre. The upper rim of the flowerheads is octagonal and made of platinum with grooved decoration. The underside of the flowerheads is made of 18ct yellow gold. The four largest flowerheads are impressed “18CT.; PLATINUM” and are also impressed with the number “155”, which is probably the design number. The mount is impressed “9ct”.
