Vintage 18ct Gold, Coral and Diamond “Guan-Yin” Brooch Pendant
Vintage 18ct Gold, Coral and Diamond “Guan-Yin” Brooch Pendant
The large vintage brooch is probably of Chinese origin. It is made of coral, 18ct gold, and diamonds. The pink- and cream-coloured coral is carved to reveal the face of Guan-Yin, the goddess of mercy in Chinese mythology. A small loss of coral has occurred on the right end of the head-dress, when viewed from the front (see close-up in second last image). The brooch is embellished with seven round brilliant-cut diamonds (circa 0.70ct combined total, colour G-H, clarity SI) and one unusual star-cut diamond (circa 0.20ct, colour G-H, clarity VS). The coral and the diamonds are set onto a gold frame and into gold settings. The brooch has a gold needle and, also, a gold loop that allows it to be worn alternatively as a pendant. The brooch/ pendant is marked “18ct”. There is another possible mark but this is not clear.
Please note: the silk rope shown in some of the images is for display purposes only and is not included with the item.
