Sterling Silver, Marcasite and Black Agate “Frog” Pendant Necklace
The modern, sterling silver frog pendant is in the form of a frog with stretched legs. The pendant has a fixed loop behind a front leg and is suspended from a fine curb chain, which has a bolt ring closure. The frog has round, cabochon polished, black agate eyes (circa 2.5mm diameter) and a shield-shaped black agate piece (circa 12.5mm x 8mm) set into its body. The body is studded with marcasite and is decorated with fine beading. The pendant and the chain are marked “925”. The chain also has a further mark resembling a three-leaf clover.
