Sterling Silver and Amber “Butterfly” Pendant Brooch on Chain
The modern, sterling silver butterfly pendant brooch has spread wings, and has two fixed loops, on the back, which can take a chain for it to be worn as a necklace, either symmetrically through both loops, or asymmetrically through one loop only; and a needle and closure for it to be worn alternatively as a brooch. The butterfly’s wings are set with four pieces of amber, which are polished in the front and engraved in the back. The engraving produces a multi-shade of amber when viewed from the front, creating the butterfly wing effect. The pendant hangs from a fine curb chain. The pendant and the chain are marked “925”. The chain is also a further mark resembling a three-leaf clover.
