Silver Compact with Applied Two-Colour Gold Roses
 
The compact has hallmarks and date letter for Birmingham 1949. The maker’s mark is JHC. It is made of sterling silver and there is an applied design of two roses and leaves in unmarked yellow and rose gold, which in turn is framed by a square applied surround of rose gold. The attached thumb piece is also of rose gold. The silver surfaces have machine turned engraving.
