Silver and Sapphire Drop Earrings
The modern sterling silver drop earrings have long shepherd’s hooks with closures and navette-shaped pendants. The pendants, each, have silver beading decoration at the top and a similar small silver beading at the base. Each navette-shaped element is set with a central, oval-cut sapphire (approximately 5.5mm x3.2mm - circa 0.3ct each). On each earring, the central sapphire is surrounded by 16 small, round-cut, sapphires (approximately 1.6mm diameter – circa 0.64ct total for the pair) and an outer lot of 20 slightly larger, round-cut, sapphires (approximately 2.5mm diameter – 4.0ct total). The earrings are marked “925” for sterling grade silver.
