Large Persian Seal, Red Agate and Silver Pendant Necklace
The necklace is made up of 79 round red agate beads (circa 10mm); a magnetic ball-shaped closure set with crystals; seven, square, decorated metal spacers; 18 wire ring separators; and a large disk pendant (64mm diameter; 5.5mm thick – circa 10mm with carved mount).
The carved seal mounted on the pendant appears to be older than the necklace and pendant (probably about 50 years old), whereas the necklace and pendant is fairly modern.
The pendant is mounted with an oval agate seal, which is inscribed with Arabic or Farsi characters in reverse. The oval agate seal has a silver surround.
The agate beads are round, uniformly reddish brown. The pendant is reddish brown and has slight variations in colour.
