Art Deco Style 18ct White Gold and Diamond Necklace
The vintage, 18ct white gold necklace is in the Art Deco style but probably made later than the Art Deco period (1920-1940). It has a centrepiece which is set with many diamonds. The central diamond is baguette, step-cut (approximately 5.2mm x 3.1mm x 2.6mm – circa 0.40ct; colour L; clarity I1) and this is flanked by two triangular, step-cut diamonds (approximately 5.5mm x 5.0mm x 1.6mm– circa 0.30ct each; colour I-J; clarity – VS-SI). The central diamonds are surrounded by 24 small round brilliant-cut diamonds in an hexagonal arrangement, and on each side of the centrepiece there is a triangular element set with 19 small round brilliant-cut diamonds each. The centrepiece is suspended from a length of white gold cable chain ending in a ring and lobster-claw closure. The chain is marked “750; star 1 AR; Unoaerre” the lobster claw is marked “750”. The necklace was possibly made in Italy. All the metal elements have been tested to confirm that they are 18ct white gold.
