Art Nouveau Gordle Vale and Co. Sterling Silver and Enamel Necklace
Art Nouveau Gordle Vale and Co. Sterling Silver and Enamel Necklace
The Art Nouveau necklace is crafted in sterling silver and features a central shield (circa 34.0mm x 31.4mm) with decorative embossed detail, and which has been finished on both sides in hand-painted blue and green enamel. There is a smaller enamelled panel (circa 13.3mm x 25.9mm each) to either side of this central shield. All three panels are mounted on the front with a tube-set, soft-grey, mother-of-pearl, and are connected to each with short sections of belcher-link chain. The chain then extends from the outer panels to form a necklace with bolt-ring clasp. The rear of the large shield is hallmarked, visible through the enamelwork, for Birmingham 1909, maker "GV & Co" (Gordle Vale and Co).
