Art Nouveau 9ct Gold, Amethyst and Pearl Pendant Brooch Necklace

The necklace features an antique, Art Nouveau, 9ct gold pendant brooch that has an open-work main body set with an oval-cut, tube-set amethyst (approximately 7.9mm x 5.2mm – circa 1.1ct) and 22 seed pearls (varying from 1mm – 3mm diameter). The main body supports a tear-drop shaped pendant set with a tube-set, pear-shape cut amethyst (approximately 6.5mm x 5.0mm – circa 0.5ct). The back of the pendant brooch is set with a clip and steel pin. The pendant brooch is marked “9ct”. The pendant brooch is suspended from a later, associated, fine, 9ct yellow gold, diamond-cut belcher chain necklace that has a bolt-ring closure. The necklace is marked “375” and has further very small marks which appear to include a maker’s mark “GM”; the Common Control Mark for 9ct gold; and the hallmark for Birmingham.
