Antique Sterling Silver Sovereign Case Pendant on Silver Chain
The antique, sterling silver pendant is in the form of a sovereign case with a hinged ring bale. The sovereign case has a lid and back with engraved decoration and the lid has a vacant cartouche. The sovereign holder inside is sprung. The case is opened by pushing a sprung button. The chain is later than the pendant and is in the form of a long curb chain.
The sovereign case is marked is marked inside the lid with the maker’s mark “S&B” and has the hallmark for Birmingham; the lion passant sterling silver mark; and the date letter “h” for 1907. The coin holder has the same sterling and date letter mark. The ring bale has a sterling mark. The chain is marked “925”.
