Antique Silver Fob-Chain Necklace with T-bar and Pendant
Antique Silver Fob-Chain Necklace with T-bar and Crossed Rifle Fob Pendant
The antique fob-chain necklace has a main section which is made up of a curb chain; with dog-clip and ring ends, which act as a closure. A T-bar pendant and a fob pendant are suspended from the necklace on a riding ring. The fob pendant has crossed rifles, a target, and a vacant cartouche, and has a pierced and engraved decorative surround.
The dog-clip has a somewhat rubbed maker’s mark which appears to be “S.S”. Many of the links of the necklace have rubbed “lion passant” sterling marks. The T-bar is marked with a maker’s mark “S.B.S.”, a “lion passant” sterling mark; and a date letter “k” (possibly Birmingham 1909). The fob pendant has the maker’s mark “WHH”; the “lion passant” sterling mark; the hallmark for Birmingham; and the date letter for 1923.
