Antique Gold and Four-strand Coral Necklace
Antique Gold and Four-strand Coral Necklace
The antique necklace has a yellow gold, tongue-and-groove, clasp and a safety chain. It is made up of four strands of graduated ovoid coral beads (approximately 4.5mm - 9.0mm diameter). The strands consist of approximately 100; 106; 114; and 118 beads respectively, and are circa 50.5cm; 53cm; 55.5ccm; and 58cm long. The beads have a fairly uniformly dark orange coral colour. The clasp is set with three coral beads. Two of these are somewhat ovoid (8mm x 5mm and 8mm x 6mm) whilst the central bead is round (7.5mm diameter). The clasp and the safety chain are unmarked. The safety chain has been electronically scanned and tests to be 9ct gold, whilst the clasp tests to be approximately 4ct gold, which may be a low-grade gold, or a thick plating of gold on a base metal.
