9ct Gold, Amethyst, Peridot and Pearl Suffragette Pendant
Antique 9ct Gold, Amethyst, Peridot and Pearl Suffragette Pendant
The antique Edwardian 9ct yellow gold pendant is a Suffragette jewellery item. British suffragette jewellery either has direct links to women’s suffrage, or pays tribute to the movement. The official colours of the Suffragettes were purple, white and green, and many items of Suffragette jewellery feature peridot, amethyst and diamond; or peridot, amethyst and pearl.
The pendant is made up of a number of elements. An oval bale supports two sections of fine chain, which in turn support a triangular element. The triangular element is decorated with a central floret set with a seed pearl (circa 2mm diameter) and five pear-shaped cut peridots (approximately 4.0mm x 2.8mm – circa 0.80ct total). There is a bent gold wire decoration attached to the floret. The triangular section supports three pendants, each set with a pear-shape cut amethyst (approximately 5.9mm x 4.0mm – circa 0.35ct each). The central pendant is also set with a seed pearl (circa 2mm diameter). The pendant has no marks but has been tested to confirm that it is 9ct yellow gold
