The modern 18ct white gold ring is set with an oval-cut rubellite tourmaline (approximately 7.4mm x 5.7mm – circa 0.97ct; deep pink, ruby-like colour; some typical small inclusions and natural internal fracturing). The tourmaline is surrounded by 16 round brilliant-cut diamonds (circa 0.23ct total). The ring is marked ”HK; 750; ZA”, indicating that the gold is 18ct and that the ring was made in South Africa. The maker of the ring has not been identified.
