Margaret Richardson Silver, Turquoise and Onyx Ring
Modernist Margaret Richardson Sterling Silver, Turquoise and Onyx Ring
The vintage sterling silver ring was handmade by Margaret Richardson and is unique. It features a bold, architectural construction, and is bezel-set with an oval cabochon turquoise (circa 9.5mm x 7.5mm / 3ct) positioned atop a claw-set rectangular onyx panel (circa 16mm x 12mm / 5ct).
The ring is stamped “925” for sterling silver, and “mr” for Margaret Richardson. Born Ulli Margarete Samuelson in Russia 1908, Margaret Richardson later settled in South Africa after WWII, worked in Johannesburg in the 1960’s and 1970’s, and became well known for her hand-made gold and silver jewellery, which was generally in the Modernist style. She died in 1989.
